Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes the board’s decision to end Sir Alex Ferguson’s role as club ambassador has had an impact on the team but believes the ‘boss’ will understand.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Red Devils’ board have decided to sack Sir Alex from his ambassadorial role in a bid to cut costs at the club, with United reportedly paying the ‘man’ a salary of £2.6m a year.
Ten Hag spoke about the issue at his press conference on Friday: “Of course it has an impact on us. For Sir Alex, obviously he built Manchester United to where we are now and it has an impact on us.”
“But on the other hand, we know and Sir Alex knows that’s what he wants, he wants to see Manchester United as a winning team and I’m sure he’s ready to give us all the advice we need, in the short term, as we’ve done for the last two and a half years since I’ve been here.”
“We have good contact sometimes. I would say I meet him officially every half year, but of course I also meet him informally during the competition.”
“We are not at the level that he has set yet, but we have won trophies. Remember, the last six years this club has not won trophies. So we are coming back, สมัคร ufabet but of course we are not there yet. But the important thing is that we have to do everything right and we can build a team that puts the best players on the pitch to build the best team.”
